The past 6 months my personal style for my Home has really changed. What I used to like and the things in my home now in the present moment, don’t jive anymore. I didn’t really think this would happen, so its taken me back a little bit. This has left me with staring at my walls and furniture eager for some design and shopping therapy. Let’s admit sometimes this is a good thing, and sometimes this is a very bad approach. The amount that I need to get accomplish out weighs some of these changes that I would like to make. It’s called CONTENTMENT!!!
It’s obvious that I really like a bit of an antique look, but all in moderation. When we finished our kitchen renovation a year and a half ago it spawned a yearning for a classic, tailored, yet casual look. While I appreciate all styles when it comes to design, I most favor a home that is uncluttered, with a classic look, while maintaining simplicity and practicality.
Take this Hutch we repainted about 4 years ago now. This is a great piece, and it has served me well, but soon it will be time to pass it along to the Craigslist ads. We plan on configuring our kitchen and living room differently when we get a moment, so this piece will not fit into my equation of the design.
This Hutch that I painted and it has served for a few good years holding extra kitchen items such as china and wine glass stem ware. I will be sad to see it go, but it might as well go to a good home who needs it.
The next few images will give you a picture into some of the things I am starting to really LOVE…
I love this kitchen for its simple classic feel. I don’t necessarily like the floors, but the Island is kept simply but there is such an abundance of space to work on, and it’s lines are kept simple. I like that a lot. Not a lot of frills.
I love this kitchen, and all it’s beauty. The lamp pendant’s are more than unique, and it boasts the amazing marble installed on the back splash. I am in love with Carrara Marble. I think it is not only beautiful, but leaves that clean, timeless look that I personally love. Also, not to mention when Darryl and I replace our oven, it will definitely be a gas oven. I know it will be harder to clean, but personally I love that “Restaurant look” .
These are some chairs I am digging at the Moment. They come from pottery barn and at the moment they are on sale for $199.00 each. Oh, lucky me I guess I will go out and buy 6 tonight! Yeah right. I love the lines of the chair, and they appear to give enough back support but at the same time they don’t have fabric on them!!!!! Two thumbs up for that!
I just may have to find a substitute for them, or actually when we change our kitchen design, I won’t need as many chairs any more. I may just be able to buy 4 some day if I start saving my pennies…
So those are some of the looks that I am loving right now. How about you? When last did your style change?

Crazy, I feel the same about wanting a change! Maybe its that designer in us, always looking at things from a creative aesthetic angle! Love the 2nd kitchen image!
As for those chairs, they remind me of the sad 70’s captain chairs that are everywhere on Craigslist with a more modern twist!

Fresh is the word I think of when I think of you. White and fresh, bright and uncluttered. That said, I do LOVE the warmth and earthiness your living room offers…especially when we’re meeting there for book club!
